Finding Light in Hibernation

A Journey Through a Challenging Week

After an inspiring day at the Hudson Valley Farm & Flea on October 12th, I felt a surge of motivation and creativity. The vibrant atmosphere, the stunning crafts, and the sense of community fueled my excitement for the upcoming holiday season and some new creative pursuits. However, life had other plans.

The following week brought an unexpected challenge as my entire family was hit hard by a respiratory illness. My daughter was unable to attend school, leaving my husband and me juggling her care, our jobs, and desperately trying to find time to rest and recover ourselves. The reality of being sick meant that creativity took a back seat. In those moments, I realized that when you’re truly unwell, there’s little energy left for worry or artistic pursuits; we were the very definition of survival mode.

It was a week of hibernation—one where we wrapped ourselves in cozy blankets, relented to endless hours of Peppa Pig,  and focused on healing.

After a full eight days of utter exhaustion, we can finally see the other side of this. And now, amidst this stillness, ideas are again beginning to swirl in my mind. With Halloween just around the corner, I feel a renewed rush of excitement. I can almost taste the anticipation of the holiday season, and it’s ignited a spark in me for new design ideas.

While life can sometimes throw unexpected hurdles in our path, I’m choosing to see this time of rest as a necessary pause that has allowed me to reflect and recharge. The creations that emerge from this phase will be all the more meaningful, born from a place of gratitude and resilience.

As I step into this festive season, I’m filled with hope and joy. I can’t wait to dive into my design projects and embrace the magic of the holidays. Here’s to new beginnings, health, and the joy of making things that brighten our days.

Wishing you all a healthy and joyous season ahead!
