Places You’ll Find Me

I wanted to share with you my artist’s statement for Three Birch Hill’s inaugural collection, Places You’ll Find Me:

As a first time parent during the tail-end of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m not sure I understood the probability that I could - or more likely would - experience postpartum depression or other mood disorders. I found myself feeling so alone, craving connection, but also confused as to how to reach out - even to my husband, other family, and my closest friends. The experience profoundly shook me.

Through painting and quilting, “Places You’ll Find Me” explores my internal journey over the past two-plus years. It has been a journey intensely focused on home and what that now means for me, but also a journey inward, to become acquainted with myself anew.

My own journey has felt lonely and isolating at times – especially in the first year – but also intensely beautiful. More mysteries lie before me still, but I can see them more as adventures now and I find a gratifying peace in that.

We are all travelers on a journey home, even if we don’t yet know exactly where or what that might mean.

(Locations are inspired by places I longed to travel to during the
pandemic and my daughter’s earliest days.)

What journey are you on right now?

I’d love to hear from you! And know, wherever you are, you are not alone.
